Hollywood, CALIFORNIA (Enviro Snowflake Brief)— New Line Cinema announced today the remake of their 2009 American romantic comedy film, he’s just not that into you, with the main storyline centered on a one-term loser President of the U.S. named Donald J. Trump relentlessly obsessing for attention from Lady America to no avail no matter what cringe worthy efforts he makes for her affections.
The original film, he’s just not that into you, directed by Ken Kwapis, follows nine people and their varying romantic problems, but primarily focuses on Gigi, who is the common thread amongst the characters. Gigi, like the new Trump character in the remake, consistently misreads her romantic partners’ behaviors.
The new script builds with hilarity about trump just not getting the blatant signals that Lady America has moved on and is physically repulsed by his voice or orange finger prints she finds dragged down her locked front door every morning. “Very funny writing, but it will make the audience’s skin crawl a bit,” says Drew Barrymore, executive producer.
As with the original film, the remake, she’s just not that into you, has multiple secondary characters dealing with their own romantic quandaries, yet all are closely tied to the story’s protagonist (trump).
For example, one storyline follows a “hero worshipping syndrome” afflicted male character, named Pence (trump’s VP), who strangely has glow in the dark headshot photos of trump on the ceiling of his bedroom. Throughout the film his wife, Karen, is trying to judge, with the help of her bible study group, if it is a “healthy obsession” for her husband and is it wrong for her to feel jealous.
The Lady America character stays consistent throughout the comedic film with her dry wit delivering one-line zingers to her girlfriends, while venting on how to get rid of this, as she calls, “stage five clinger.”
“I told him there are about 75 million reasons why he’s not right for me, but it’s my fault for chewing orange gum and now it’s stuck on both shoes, and I’m out of nail polish remover,” rails Lady America to a close ally, as she waits on hold with Verizon to get another unlisted phone number.
he’s just not that into you is scheduled to announce the cast in early January, and filming will begin in May 2021.
