SALT LAKE CITY, Utah (Enviro Snowflake Brief). Senator Mike Lee strutted in front of the cameras on the steps of the Romanesque city hall building on Monday to announce what he feels will be part of his legacy to Utah.

“Less than an hour ago I gained a commitment for Salt Lake to host the 2020 Nickel, Uranium and Gold Conference & Exhibition. I want to thank ALTA Metallurgical Services.”

Salt Lake took an economic hit after Outdoor Retailer left the city after 20 years as a protest of Utah’s politician’s desires to end protections for public lands- 50,000 visitors and $45 million lost.

Lee continued, “our long-term goal in order for Utah to reach its potential is the transfer of federal lands to the states, and by bringing in the extraction industry conventions to Salt Lake it lets my donors know we are open for business here, and of course, it reflects where I know God and 99% of Utahan’s want us to go.”

Brian Maffly, who is the lead environmental reporter for the Salt Lake Tribune, asked Senator Lee about his donors.

However, Senator Lee cut him off mid-sentence “get the fake news guy out of here” and he abruptly ended the conference.
