CHEYENNE, Wyoming (Enviro Snowflake Brief) Wyoming Game & Fish announced today a hunting lottery to win a permit to accompany Secretary Interior Ryan Zinke and Donald Trump Jr. on a one-of-a-kind Wolf Den Pup Hunt next Spring.

WYGF says the genesis the fundraising event was sparked by the recent grizzly lottery in which over 7,000 trophy hunters applied to win one of 22 permits.

Renny MacKay, a spokesman for the WYGF, said in a phone interview, “We think our hunters and anglers funded wolf reintroduction and now it is their ‘resource’ to have some fun.”

“Wolves won’t persist outside Yellowstone at Wyoming’s appalling killing pace and cruelty,” said Andrea Santarsiere, with the Center for Biological Diversity.

As with the grizzly hunt, the majority of the science community has protested the Wolf Den Pup Hunt, but supporters, like Sy Gilliland, a Jackson Hole hunting guide defends it.

“If you aren’t here on the ground how can you know if this is not a good thing for these pups.”

Secretary Zinke and Don Jr. released a joint statement, “As Teddy Roosevelt conservationists, we are honored to get out in the backcountry with the winner.”

WYGF spokesman also announced David Lesar, the chairman of Halliburton, the oil-services giant, will host a pre-hunt breakfast for state Republican politicians.
